ODS programs are structured to provide support to our players as they learn a new sport but also to build understanding, friendship and community for all participants. The success of our program is dependent upon middle and high school volunteers who choose to spend their time being an encouraging friend to our players as they play and grow on the field or court.
Peer buddies are partnered with a player for the entirety of the season so they can get to know each other and develop bonds of friendship. Our surveys have shown year over year, that the "player-peer buddy relationship" is one of the most impactful things about participation with ODS - both for the player and the peer buddy.
