ODS SSL (Student Service Learning) Policy

Open Door Sports (ODS) is committed to helping our Peer Buddies receive credit for their Student Service Learning (SSL) hours. To ensure hours can be properly verified, please follow the process below:

• One week before the program ends: ODS will email SSL service forms to families for completion.
• Before the final session: Please complete the form and bring it to the program for the coach to review and sign.
• If the form is forgotten on the last class day: The Peer Buddy must email the completed form to Sarah Albus, ODS Executive Director (salbus@opendoorsports.org) within two weeks of the program end date.  

Important: MCPS requires nonprofit organizations to confirm the amount of time students volunteer with us. Timely submission allows ODS to accurately confirm attendance and volunteer hours. After two weeks, it becomes increasingly difficult for coaches and ODS staff to reliably remember when individual students attended and volunteered.
